We captured a quick couples shoot before the ceremony in Devizes town hall and the rest was pure documentary style photography. I have to say, these two were so relaxed…
well done guys!

‘Love is a temporary madness’

"Love is a temporary madness, it erupts like volcanoes and then subsides.

Those that truly love have roots that grow towards each other underground, and, when all the pretty blossoms have fallen from their branches, they find that they are one tree and not two."

Liam and kate’s reflections:

“Carys is the perfect photographer - she captured our wedding with pictures we will cherish for a lifetime.
She is confident, funny, compasionate and superbly talented (with a knack for understanding exactly the best shot to take), which put my wife and I instantly at ease - all of the photos were natural and joyful. I cannot recommend Carys highly enough; you will not be dissappointed by booking her!!”

Something great about this wedding:

The family were so happy and smiley, everyone really supported the couple and made their day as relaxed as possible. A beautiful union between two love birds who were moving to New York from London and decided to tie the knot before they left!

- documentary style cambridgeshire wedding photography -

elle and david were married in the depths of winter, in Cambridgeshire.

They married in a little village church- the holy trinity church, elsworth - and later, had a cosy, jazz-fuelled reception & party in a barn.

They chose a 3/4 day photography package. Here are some of the highlights of their day.

despite covid kicking up a storm (again), the guests all made it a great day.

something special:

The father of the bride just so happened to be very close friends with a world renowned documentary photographer, my Friend Jocelyn Bain Hogg. Who recommended me for this job which was so kind.

Given my roots in this method of photography, I was overjoyed to hear Elle and David offer me complete creative freedom. To photograph their entire day in a glorious documentary style.

the night ended with a ceilidh, and everyone danced the night away

Elle and David’s reflections:

"We couldn't be happier with our wedding photos! Carys listened carefully to what we were hoping for and delivered all that we had asked and more. Throughout the wedding, Carys put everyone at ease with her friendly demeanour while also being fairly inconspicuous to take all the candid shots we had requested! We would highly recommend Carys as a wedding photographer!”

Becky and Rhianna

becky and rhianna were married at st george’s hall in the BEAUTIFUL liverpool town hall. After their ceremony we travelled across the river to the wirral to ‘bloom building’ an alternative, colourful venue perfect for a wedding!

Here are some of the highlights of their day.

we had a lovely time getting ready, amidst nerves and racing against the clock was fun, song and laughter. Before long both brides were ready to start their married lives together.

something great about this wedding:

The colourful venue was so stunning, I didn’t know where to start with the photographs! The style of the venue very much was a great homage to the couple themselves, both vibrant, lovely and fun people. It was a total pleasure to watch them become wives.

At the venue we ate amazing greek food, chatted, laughed, enjoyed the wonderful, colourful space and glitter balls. After some wonderful speeches, everyone was set to dance the night away. Rhianna’s sister even gave us all an amazing Pink Pony Club / Chapel Roan-themed drag performance!
What a wedding!

Becky and Rhianna’s Reflections:

“Oh Carys, we love them- they turned out better than we could have imagined. Thank you so much for capturing the life and vibrancy of the day. We are both absolutely in love with them”

- huddersfield & Holmfirth wedding photography -

lucy and charlie were married at st patricks church, in huddersfield. followed by a marquee in the rolling hills of stunning holmfirth. They married in a catholic church and chose a full day coverage. Here are some of the highlights of their day...

A few getting ready / pre-ceremony photos:

Although charlie isn’t catholic, it was important to lucy to have a religious ceremony. everyone was very touched by his willingness to be married under god. that compromise is true love, and what a special and beautiful ceremony it was.

A beautiful, kind-hearted review from Lucy:

“Carys exemplifies that a photographer can be so much more than a just necessary part of the wedding - they can actually be an enhancement to the whole experience. She was an utter delight to work with, so charismatic and personable whilst being professional and non-intrusive. She made us feel so comfortable, and you can tell by our natural smiles in the photos! The (promptly produced) photos are beautiful, so flattering and polished yet natural and fun. She really captured the essence of our day. I would recommend Carys to anyone wanting a photographer who goes above and beyond.”

something great about this wedding:

This wedding was such a beautiful combination of traditional and modern, with such stunning locations.

What a lovely way for them to get to their reception venue! Shout out to Bridesmaid Hana for leaning out the car window to grab this shot!

Fun Group Portraits…

How lovely it was to get more creative and silly with some of these… and yes, the first photo is 100% the bridesmaids pushing the wedding car which was so vintage it barely got started. Also photographed, Charlie (the groom)’s sister sitting cheering with glee at the situation. As you can see, the backdrop was a perfect example of stunning Yorkshire countryside. It may have been super windy but we sure made it work!!

And into the evening, speeches, laughter, great food, great company and of course… dancing!

Lucy and Charlie’s Reflections:

“We’ve just has a look through the pics in a little cafe in Paris - they are INCREDIBLE. Brought us to tears and laughter. You have managed to transform me from a goofball and Charlie from someone who never smiles in pics to a happy chappy - and captured such beautiful moments.”

Lou & Sumit

louise and sumit married in a magical woodland of bedale, in the yorkshire dales.
They married in the nature SURROUNDED by loved ones, by a humanist celebrant, rob from Tying the Knot Ceremonies. they chose a half days coverage.

Here are some of the highlights of their day at camp katur / The Camp Hill estate, bedale.

I started taking photographs when the guests were arriving, the whole place was magical. Full of whimsical beauty - in the natural woodlands what could go wrong! (Except for the weather but we were in luck the temperature was comfortable and the skies stayed dry! The ceremony itself was done beautifully, with a quiach cup (Scottish tradition) full of whiskey and the ring exchange, along with a few readings. It was just right! Lou looked breathtakingly beautiful and Sumit had the happiest expression all day long. It was all so special!

After the ceremony, we took some couple photos in the woods of course! Then we headed into the nearby tepee where the speeches were held - and of course, where the food was served. We were hit with 5 minutes of rain but thankfully everyone was inside by then! Soon after the speeches were complete it was time for me to depart. But we definitely got so many gorgeous moments captured in the half day I was with them. Then, they partied long into the night with their best friends and family! Thank you for the trust Lou & Sumit. What a day!!

Lou and Sumit’s Reflections:

“We first met Carys at a wedding fair at the Armouries in Leeds and from that moment we knew we had found the perfect wedding photographer! We wanted someone who could help us look good in photographs (we’re not naturally good at posing!) and who could be friendly, personable and put us at ease. As well, we wanted gorgeous photographs that not only captured the “big moments” but that also captured the emotion of the day. All these were challenging thing to find in one photographer, but from the moment we met Carys, we knew we had found them!

On our wedding day, Carys was calming, professional and personable, effortlessly blending into the background while capturing every moment. Her professionalism and attention to detail ensured that no moment was missed. She communicated well with us and helped us to look incredible in our photographs. Her extraordinary talent goes beyond “just” capturing images—she captures the very essence and emotion of the day. Every candid laugh, intimate glance, and joyful moment was beautifully preserved.

When we received our unedited photographs, we were utterly blown away. Each image is a showstopper and beautifully composed, allowing us to relive the magic of our wedding day over and over again. Carys’s genuine passion for her work shines through and we cannot wait to see the edited versions – when we get around to choosing them!

We cannot recommend Carys highly enough. Her dedication, creativity, and warm personality made her an absolute joy to work with. Thank you, Carys, for giving us memories we will cherish forever!”

- leeds wedding photographer -

sophie and marc were married in their home-city leeds, in a wonderful venue ‘Oulton Hall’.
They married in a lovely intimate ceremony surrounded by only thier closest family and friends. Their 2 year old son, Blake, loved seeing his parents wed and was dressed to perfection himself. The day was perfect temperature, lots of fun, and very special to the couple. they chose a full days coverage. Here are some of the highlights of their day.

- the ceremony -

The ceremony room was full of their nearest and dearest ready to watch them finally become Mr & Mrs German. It was a short and sweet ceremony, with lots of smiles and a few readings. Blake was initially meant to walk with his mama down the aisle but once he saw his dad he just wanted to stay with him. Very sweet!

- CONFETTI, GROUP PHOTOS & FAMILY PHOTOS -

After the ceremony all the guests lined up for confetti outside the main doors of the hotel. Then we had a while to take some posed photos, so we took some around the grounds. Later myself, Marc, Sophie and Blake (their son) went to their fancy room so Blake could have some quiet time away from the crowd with his Mum and Dad. It was so lovely and we got some lovely photographs which I’m sure Blake will love to look back on when he’s older!

something great about this wedding:

My favourite thing about this couple was watching how happy they are together. I had already photographed them for their sons birthday party about a month before the wedding which was a great way for everyone to get to know me a little and vice versa. All I can say is that they are both such kind parents and it was incredible to watch them become Mr & Mrs in this intimate day with only their closest friends and family there.

Sophie and Marc’s Reflections:

“I first met Carys at the Oulton Hall wedding fair in January for our September wedding. I was on my own with my toddler as my future husband was working. Carys was so welcoming, friendly and helpful and made me feel comfortable from the start. Carys is so down to earth and her prices are reasonable. From that first meet I knew we would be booking Carys for our wedding. Communication throughout has been fabulous and Carys always replies. I have inundated Carys with messages of ideas and inspiration pictures for my big day and Carys took note of everything and certainly did not let us down. We absolutely love our photos and couldn’t have asked for more. Carys photographed our son’s 2nd birthday party 1 month before the wedding and was just like one of our family/friends. On our wedding day Carys was so energetic and ensured she captured all the shots I asked for. Carys was so involved in our wedding and again fitted in perfectly with our family and friends. Carys made us feel so comfortable all day and we would 100% recommend Carys for all your photography needs. I wanted a photo of the bride being thrown in the air by my Groom, Brothers, Brother in law, Nephew and Best man and this was one of the highlights of the day and got everyone laughing. Carys got involved and asked to have a go at being thrown in the air. I think it is an experience Carys will remember forever! Thank you Carys for being amazing and for all your help and support and for our beautiful wedding photos! - Mr and Mrs German”

adam and lucy were married in a gorgeous church in escrick, the vicAR WAS THE MOTHER OF THE GROOM WHICH WAS SO SPECIAL. THEN THE HAPPY COUPLE AND THEIR LOVES ONES GATHERED IN THE STUNNING GARDENS OF SKIPWITH HALL, WITH A BEAUTIFULLY DECORATED MARQUEE TO CELEBRATE IN.

Here are some of the highlights of their day.

Once the bridal party were all ready, the guests had arrived in the beautiful Escrick church, Adam - the groom - waited patiently for his soon to be wife to arrive. Adam’s Mother hosted the service that day so it was an extra special ceremony for the couple.

After the ceremony we all headed to a stunning collection of gardens, meadows and a wonderful marquee in Skipwith Hall and Gardens. Lucy, Adam and their families had done all of the marquee decorating and it looked stunning. The family had even grown all of the flowers they had displayed that day. It was so stunning!

something great about this wedding:

Playing a wheelbarrow race. Adam and Lucy had such fun watching their friends charge towards them. I also couldn’t stop laughing and YES I had a go myself. Obviously!

I have to say it was a wedding first for me… hopefully not a last either! I say, introduce wheelbarrow races to all wedding garden games!

Adam and Lucy’s Reflections:

“Carys did an amazing job as our wedding photographer. She has been warm and approachable throughout the build-up, and on the day itself she managed to strike a perfect balance between blending into the background for subtle candid shots and being open and friendly with all of our guests, making everyone feel comfortable and at ease throughout. Especially during the church service, Carys did a brilliant job of being unobtrusive whilst capturing some amazing photos. She was also great fun and willing to help us out with some more unusual/silly photo ideas! All of the photos are beautiful and they really capture the relaxed and natural feel of the day. We highly recommend Carys!”
